Roxanne hopes knickers will help her win on the ice

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Dancing on Ice contestant Roxanne Pallett has come up with a novel way of increasing her likelihood of winning the show.

The 26-year-old intends to use lucky knickers, apparently, after learning that her fellow competitors Ray Quinn and Todd Carty have currently got the edge performance-wise (in spite of the latter unwittingly skating off the rink last week).

“Roxy’s going to give them out in training before the next show,” an unnamed source told the Star.

The Emmerdale regular may wish to make the knickers yellow ones – people in Brazil believe that this is a lucky colour to wear in the new year in order to bring prosperity.

And Pallett is not alone in thinking lucky underwear may increase her chances. A recent survey by the law firm Peninsula cited by Onrec.com found that six out of ten people going for job interviews opt for this technique in the hope that they might somehow improve their chances of employment.

However, certain people may not, as the firm’s managing director pointed out.

“I’m amazed at how superstitious people are. One employee we spoke to took wearing lucky underwear to the extreme, claiming his briefs are so lucky that he refuses to wash them,” he commented.

Let’s hope the Dancing on Ice crew are a little more hygienic with their lucky pants!

Kate Hudson offers underwear tips

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Although she may look picture perfect in the publicity shots surrounding her new movie Bride Wars, smiley actress Kate Hudson has revealed that she needs as much help as the next girl when it comes to underwear.

In an interview with In Style magazine, the 29-year-old actress and daughter of Goldie Hawn said she looks to invisible knickers to avoid any embarrassing red carpet moments.

“I discovered these great undergarments I can’t live without called Nearly Nude…they’re so great. And you can wear them under any dress,” she enthused.

She added that she is also a fan of shapewear, which she said every woman should invest in, as well as strapless bras and boy-shorts for when roles require her to wear anything clingy or unsupportive.

Hudson, who has a five-year-old son, also revealed that she is not into the idea of making critical comments about other people in the industry.

“I’m not like that. I was raised to root for other people. And I think we need that”, she remarked.

For anyone who isn’t famous, you may be glad to hear that Kate’s underwear solutions are available to mere mortals too.

Lingerieplease.co.uk has shapewear from Trinny and Susannah, as well as the hugely popular invisible knickers and plenty of multiway bras.

Lost’s Kate auctions off her underwear

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

These days, we are as likely to see the stars of Hollywood participating in work for charity as we are to see them gracing the silver screen.

Leo DiCaprio, for example, is a well-known environmental campaigner and supporter of Al Gore.

However, Lost’s Kate Austen – aka Evangeline Lilly – has come up with a fun way of drawing attention to a good cause; through the use of her underwear.

The actress has joined forces with Task Brazil to organise an auction of her best lingerie for charity and all proceeds will go to the children in Brazil who are forced to live in shanty towns or favelas.

In a short video clip on Ecorazzi.com, Lilly talks about the project and how she hopes people will get involved.

She called the forthcoming auction “a fun and enticing way for you to not only to invest in yourself, but in the poor and abandoned children of Brazil” and said she will pose in the pieces herself to encourage plenty of bidding.

“Bid on something that will make you feel as gorgeous as you are,” the actress urged.

Lilly has said that when Lost finishes at the end of the sixth series, she will quit acting to focus in humanitarian work.

Perhaps she should pay a visit to lingerieplease.co.uk to stock back up on underwear too!

See the Snow men in their underwear

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Anyone with a strange celebrity crush on the Snows – Peter, Dan and Jon – is likely to be thrilled with a new advertising campaign featuring the objects of their affections.

Anyone else – well, at least you can remind yourself that it’s for a good cause.

It has been announced that the three presenters, who are all members of the same family, are to front a campaign promoting cancer awareness by posing in their underwear.

While we may be more used to seeing at least two of them tramping around fields in pursuit of various history projects, we will now be confronted with them in their pants in a bid to persuade men to get themselves checked out if they are worried about prostrate cancer.

The family ties are appropriate, since a man’s chances of developing the cancer are two and a half times greater if a close relative has it.

Jon Snow told the Mirror: “It matters. It was great fun to work with Peter and Dan, not something we have ever done before in all of our years of broadcasting. It was a historic day, in fact.”

Ladies concerned about their men should follow the Snow example and encourage them to visit a doctor.

How to give your underwear the star treatment

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Anyone who travels regularly may be interested in a new product that the celebrities are apparently going crazy over – the Bra Bag.

Made by American firm the Brag Company, the product claims to fix all of your problems when it comes to packing underwear in suitcases, allowing bras to fit snugly inside and protecting them from being damaged by errant stilettos.

The company states that its A-list fans include Jennifer Aniston and Rachael Ray (yes, we had to Google her too), who both want to get on a flight without worrying about their expensive bras being all misshapen at the other side.

Another product called the Panty Pak also exists, which is a knicker-shaped case allowing travellers to separate their clean underwear from their worn pairs when on the go.

It claims to be convenient for avoiding embarrassing situations involving guards rifling through your smalls at the customs desk.

The Brag Company was set up by an American mother called Jane Webb, who got so fed up of having dented bras that she designed the product and registered a patent for it in 2006.

Today’s news could be particularly useful for Coleen Rooney, who has been on nine holidays in the last 12 months, according to recent reports.

Lady GaGa ‘likes to cook in underwear’

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Although she may be a relative newcomer on the pop scene, we’ve already seen and heard quite a lot of Lady GaGa.

The outspoken singer has spent two weeks at number one with her single Just Dance, but has also become just as well known for her love of raunchy on-stage outfits and, well, slightly odd ones off-stage.

She was pictured earlier this week in a flesh-coloured crop top, sparkly knickers and fishnets after an appearance on T4, while she wore a PVC corset, black pants and boots with no toes in Notting Hill the next day.

However, Lady GaGa has also revealed that she doesn’t just dress quirkily out on the streets, but she is unconventional at home as well.

In an interview with the Guardian, she said she likes to not have to dress up when cooking for her boyfriend.

“I used to make my boyfriend dinner in my stilettos, with my underwear on. He used to be like, ‘Baby, you’re so sexy!’ and I’d be like, ‘Have some meatballs’,” she remarked.

Just watch out for splashing fat if you cook sausages, we say!

Lady GaGa may get on with Jennifer Aniston and Sean Combs, both of whom reportedly like to wander around the house in their underwear.

Charity Bra Appeal!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Recently it was reported that most women in the UK have at least 4 bras that they never wear simply because they don’t fit, are uncomfortable or have been replaced.

If this sounds familiar, don’t hoard them, do something amazing with them and save a life! Lingerie please have teamed up with Bag It Up to encourage customers to help collect 200,000 bras for charity to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The second-hand bras are re-packed & shipped to West Africa where they are sold on to licensed West African traders with all profits going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. There is a big demand for second hand bras all over the world and we know the campaign will make a big difference to women everywhere.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides a life saving service across Yorkshire and as an independent charity they rely on charity donations to keep the £7,200 a day service running.

What better excuse do you need for a spring lingerie sort out? So tell friends and family about the campaign – all donations will be much appreciated and will help us reach the target of 200,000 bras!

Please visit www.lingerieplease.co.uk/charity for all the details

We will keep you updated on the amount of bras we have collected!

Weaver does a Basic Instinct (but with underwear)

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Although she is one of the most highly-regarded actresses of her generation, someone should give Sigourney Weaver some lessons on how to sit down like a lady when wearing a dress.

Although it would have been fine had she been wearing trousers, 59-year-old Weaver chose a skirt to appear on a US chat show – and promptly flashed her knickers to the world.

The Daily Mail has helpfully published a photo of the actress as she chats away, legs akimbo, seemingly unaware that people could see her underwear. And if the other guests noticed, they didn’t point it out.

Still, at least she had knickers on, unlike some of Hollywood’s younger stars just lately. And since the rest of her looked so good, we think she can be let off.

Back in 2008, we reported how a new device aimed at eliminating embarrassing flashing incidents when it comes to getting out of cars had been invented for Sheilas’ Wheels.

The car insurance company decided to take action after finding that 64 per cent of women have exposed more than they wanted to while attempting to do this and that a fifth of women don’t know how to get out of a car properly.

Men still love their ladies in lingerie

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

For anyone unsure whether or not to go down the new lingerie route this Valentine’s Day, advice issued by the Sun’s resident agony aunt Deidre could be useful.

The expert states that for one in ten men, their favourite fantasy is to see their partner dressed in luxurious underwear, including stockings, suspenders and basques.

She points out that this dates back to the bygone music hall era, when women would flash their ankles as part of a daring routine – and that men still haven’t forgotten the lure of what lies beneath.

Deidre also suggests that dressing up in sexy lingerie could also help you to shed your inhibitions for that special evening.

Her comments follow a report from Jordan LaRousse and Samantha Sade, Denver sex and romance doctors for the Examiner.com, back in December, which stated that men always appreciate it when their partner buys and wears new underwear, even if they do not say it out loud.

For those ladies running a little short in the lingerie department, but still wanting something to impress their partners with, try lingerieplease.co.uk.

There are a range of basques, corsets and bustiers perfect for bringing out the exhibitionist in you!

Scarlett does a Marilyn in D&G underwear pose

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Hollywood starlet Scarlett Johansson has often been lauded by fashion critics for her old-school glamour and sophisticated look.

And it seems that fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has decided to capitalise on this for its new make-up campaign, which shows the Lost in Translation star draped over silken sheets in a corset and knickers.

She also bears a striking resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, thanks to platinum blonde curls and startling red lipstick.

Like Johansson, Monroe never adhered to stereotypes, maintaining her curves and glamorous appearance in public at all times prior to her death in 1962.

There seems to be a flurry of stars getting their bodies out in new underwear this month, while people without the aid of an airbrush struggle with their January diet.

Bianca Gascoigne has posed in circus-style lingerie to show off her recent weight loss, while Victoria and David Beckham have both fronted an underwear campaign for Armani.

Kerry Katona and Chloe Madeley have also been pictured in their bras, while Madonna wore not so much underwear as bandages and a g-string in adverts for Louis Vuitton – put it away, Madge, we’ve seen enough!

Anyone looking for new underwear in time for Valentine’s Day should check out lingerieplease.co.uk, which has a range of basques, bras and other lingerie especially for the occasion.
