More lingerie lovers in Loughborough as recession cuts budgets
People in Loughborough are chopping their budgets when it comes to eating out and going to the pub – and are instead spending their money on lingerie.
The Loughborough Times points out that sales of racy underwear are “going from strength to strength” as people seek to spend fun times together without having to break the bank.
Charlotte Emerson-Edstrom, who owns an underwear shop in the town, said that she has noticed an upwards trend since December, with the most popular items being things that both men and women can enjoy, such as basques.
“Couples are staying in more, so are more inclined to buy a sexy piece of underwear and a bottle of wine than go out,” she pointed out.
Ms Emerson-Edstrom added that stockings are also popular items to purchase and then wear in the bedroom.
Rebecca Apsan, who dressed Sarah Jessica Parker et al in lingerie for Sex and the City, recently said in an article for the Chicago Tribune that beautiful lingerie should put a smile on the face of the wearer, as well as her beholder.
“Life is too short not to have a good time,” she concluded.
