With the calendar already showing February, couples up and down the country are likely to be making their plans for Valentine’s Day.

Liz Gumbinner, a contributing editor to Beauty Hacks, suggests on her Thong 101 blog that a thong could be the ideal thing for comfort, invisibility under tight clothes and looking great later on.

However, she added that the ideal thong should lie flat against the derriere – and if you don’t feel happy in one, stick to briefs or boy shorts!

“It should make you feel more comfortable, not more like a pole dancer,” the expert remarked.

However, she also pointed out that nice underwear need not be reserved only for couples.

“Wearing nice lingerie can make you feel a little better about yourself, even if there’s no one to see it but you and your 18 cats,” Ms Gumbinner assured us.

Singer Lily Allen has celebrated achieving a number one single by performing in a saucy outfit at the popular G.A.Y. nightclub in London.

The 23-year-old knocked Lady GaGa off the top spot yesterday (February 1st) with her single The Fear – and showed that she’s certainly fearless when it comes to flashing the flesh.

Allen arrived for the performance in a Pink Panther outfit, but stripped off after the first song to reveal an electric blue frilly top, lacy knickers and matching blue stockings.

She kept it on for a spot of clubbing afterwards, but returned to become the Pink Panther when she met up with her brother Alfie and his girlfriend Jamie Winstone.

However, this was not before she gave clubbers a cheeky flash of her derriere and performed Britney Spears’ hit Womanizer in an air hostess uniform.

The Smile singer seems to have put her weight issues behind her too – Allen has often commented on how she gets disheartened by cruel jibes about her putting on weight last summer and said she contemplated giving up showbusiness as a result.

Meanwhile, another celeb showing off her underwear is Debbie McGee – she posed for the Mirror in a number of Madonna-esque stances to show that she’s got a great body at 50 too and said she doesn’t mind Paul Daniels talking about her knickers in the press.
