Plenty of people got lingerie for V-Day!
Even though we all know by now that the credit crunch is in full swing, it’s good to know that the romance of Valentine’s Day isn’t dead.
Independent lingerie retailers have reported that sales increased in the days leading up to February 14th, even though finances may be stretched for many.
According to Drapers, while 67 per cent of lingerie retailers said they did not expect V-Day to be a special event in their calendar, many were pleasantly surprised.
Paul Masters, who owns an underwear boutique in Reading, said his sales shot up by 30 per cent, with plenty of men splashing out on luxury lingerie sets for their special ladies.
Meanwhile, Goug Wilcox, manager of a shop in Primrose Hill, said she was not surprised that people are still buying underwear.
“Lingerie always does well in a recession because it cheers people up,” she pointed out, adding that she sold “nothing practical” this February 14th as people opted to forget their troubles and dress up in new finery.
For anyone who may have received a bra that is a little too practical, why not spice it up with some Glamorous Bra Straps from lingerieplease.co.uk?
They are available in multi-coloured diamante and black velvet among other designs and are sure to liven up a plain bra, under a strapless top especially.
