If you’re one of the thousands of women in Britain who wear the same few bras month in, month out, but never check that they are the right size, one expert has advised you to reconsider.

Sonja Das, who works as a bra fitter in Illinois, told the Northwest Herald that even though people may not want to splurge too much during the recession, a well-fitting bra is an essential purchase.

She pointed out that with D cup or larger breasts weighing between 15 and 25 pounds, wearing the wrong sized bra could result in pain and musculoskeletal problems.

However, Ms Das also said that people who have been fitted recently should not rest on their laurels, since new bras should be replaced regularly to prevent them going out of shape and becoming ill-fitting.

She said that bras only last about 100 wears before they lose elasticity and the straps start to fall, so women should ideally buy about three bras a year.

To make this easier, Ms Das recommends making bra-buying a group exercise to enjoy with friends

“All your girlfriends get together and everybody gets perky,” she concluded.

According to the Telegraph, British women’s breasts are growing.

While ten years ago the average bra size was a 34B, today it is 36C, with an estimated 40 per cent of women taking a D cup or above.

Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, has revealed that she was too much of a good girl to trash hotel rooms as a Spice Girl in the 1990s.

However, intent on doing something to rebel, she admitted in an interview with Fabulous magazine that she did do something to make the hotel owners blush.
