For the first time a study has been conducted in order to determine the influence that weight has on what men find attractive in women. Psychologists at St Andrews University gathered a group of female students aged between 16 – 25 and took their photographs, blood pressure and questioned them on their health. The photographs were shown to a group of male participants and the results showed an overwhelming trend to prefer ‘health sizes females with a BMI between 18.5-25.’ This casts aside the most modern view that to achieve true beauty, you must be stick thin.

The results concluded that the average male really does prefer the ‘average female’. This means that normal weight, healthy girls were seen as more attractive when compared to their over or under weight peers.
