Here at Lingerie Please we are often talking lingerie and we fail to mention the bigger stuff that is going on in the world around us, whilst we love our bras and knickers one thing that lies close to our hearts is Breast Cancer. Breast cancer affects so many of us and is something that as women we truly care about. There is the Race For life and many other sponsored events to raise money for this worthy cause and we like to document these things as they make us realise as women we can stick together and overcome anything. It’s a very powerful message.

We were shocked to see that this 17 year old girl from Florida has created an IPhone app that can detect breast cancer. So how does it work? Apparently the app mimics the structure of the brain the program correctly identified 99% of malignant tumours and has won her a £50,000 scholarship from Google.

How fantastic is this? She has inspired hope all over the world at just 17 years of age and made a new breakthrough in science. We think its fantastic news for women everywhere what are you views? Leave us a message in the comments below.

Anthea Turner is a television favourite and famous for such shows as Blue Peter and Wish You Were Here. Anthea has been part of breast cancer charities for a while and so it was no surprise when she turned up at midnight last night for the MoonWalk marathon to raise money for breast cancer. Like many of those that take part in this walk, Anthea and her friends have been affected by breast cancer with the people close by to them having experienced it.

Anthea will be remembering her friend and former co presenter Caron Keating who died in 2004 aged just 41. The MoonWalk is such a positive experience. It is a joyous way to remember those we know and love who were strong enough to fight the disease and also to help in creating a cure.

The walk consists of many women walking at night in there bras and is a funny occasion with everyone laughing and joking whilst thinking of the people they have lost and the greater cause.

We at Lingerie Please think Anthea Turner has been very inspirational taking part in this walk and we applaud her for walking down the street in her bra for this cause!

In recent news ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent has now been moved to a later start time of 8.30pm rather than 8pm.

Since the beginning of BGT, the rival talent show BBC1’s The Voice has been more successful with viewership ratings.

With the change of start time to BGT, no longer will viewers have the conundrum of deciding what to watch when The Voice comes to a close and Britain’s Got Talent begins, soon being able to watch both shows in full. The change to BGT’s start time will take affect from Saturday 21^st April.

In addition, with a temporary change to the judging panel Carmen Electra is in her second week of appearing on Britain’s Got Talent.

Alesha Dixon’s dress sense clearly conveys, she is not worried about Carmen stealing the lime light. In the gorgeous strapless dress she was wearing Alesha has the option of wearing a strapless bra.

Susannah Reid from BBC Breakfast Show has come under scrutiny by viewers in recent months for showing off her cleavage. The newsreader is always suitably covered up perhaps with a v-neck or a scoop neck but never anything that would be offensive to the general public. Just a normal top worn by a woman blessed with a larger bust.

The question we beg to ask is why are women with larger breasts considered as flirty or ‘flirting like a schoolgirl’ as the newsreader was called in a recent interview because she was wearing a scoop neck? A perfectly modest scoop neck may I add.

These stereotypes are carried on by men and women alike who seem to think that a larger bust means that you are somehow deficient in intelligence yet abundant with outrageous flirty behaviour. Are we to carry on these unfair stereotypes for ever?

In fact the best response was ‘People seem to be shocked that women have breasts’ by Newsreader Susanna Reid. We should be celebratory of our assets if we have them, but other people shouldn’t define us by them.

Summer is on its way and we couldn’t be more delighted. We are walking to work in the morning with it being slightly warm and are even contemplating getting rid of my winter coat. Who would have thought it?

For summer holidays you need a great bikini, something that makes you feel comfortable and looks great for your body shape but is also something a bit special too. If you have broader shoulders avoid halterneck bikinis as they create the illusion of making you appear wider if you are top heavy, so go for a bandeau bra, not only will it balance you out it also means no strap marks. If you have narrow shoulders or a boyish figure then a halter neck bikini or triangle bikini will create the illusion of a curvier figure.

In terms of bikini bottoms the choice is yours, there are many options whether you prefer tie side bikinis or feel safer in a brief.

The creator of Spanx Sara Blakely has made it on to the Forbes rich list. Last week the 41 year old made it to billionaire status reaching the Forbes rich list from an idea that started when she was wearing some white trouser and she decided to cut the fit off some shaping tights. 

Since then Spanx has gone global, more and more products are added all the time targeting every area of the body from bingo wings to that extra tyre. Not only that the celebrities are loving them too and we are loving them for it! Celebrities such as Beyonce and Sarah Jessica Parker have been seen wearing the cult shaping pants to show us they are normal like the rest of us!

So what is the future for shapewear? Well the new trends as shown by Kate Winslet on the red carpet are heading in the direction of the perfect hourglass. This trend has been made popular from the hit television series ‘Mad Men’ to get that 60s hourglass look. Many lingerie stores are already creating items that give you a nipped in waist and shapely hips as well as boosting your bust for a perfect hourglass figure.

According to an online survey, one third of women would rather have big breasts instead of a high IQ. A survey conducted of 1,100 18-25 year olds found that 41% of women would rather have bigger breasts than a high IQ because it would make them ‘feel happier’.

44% of the respondents would rather have a ‘slim figure’ than high intelligence, with 29 percent saying having a slim figure would make them more confident. This survey could be as a result of how women feel men view them, with 59% thinking appearance is much more important to intelligence. This also could be due to a survey released last year that found that thin women earned more than there average weight counterparts.

We at Lingerie Please think that being thin shouldn’t have such a massive hold over you, appearance is important but only if its for yourself and not as a result of what other people may think. Flaunt your curves and just wear some great shapewear, you will have more of a laugh enjoying your figure and your life rather than obsessing over things like your weight!

It has recently been reported that Rihanna’s father said she ought to lose weight after he last saw her in her swimwear on holiday back at home.

Her father reportedly said that recently especially at the Grammy’s the star was back to looking her best. Judging on recent photos of her on holiday in Barbados with friends Rihanna doesn’t think she has a problem with her weight. Taking pictures of herself in her bikini on a treadmill and this morning taking pictures of herself naked holding what looks to be a blonde wig with her natural brown hair tied up into a bun.

The star also seemed to poke fun at ex Chris Browns girlfriend posting pictures that appeared to mock where she comes from and also tweeting about his new girlfriends modelling career and claiming perhaps (if reports are to be believed) that she is just a follower of Rihanna’s style and career.

Coleen Rooney isn’t a stranger to a great holiday maybe 6 or 7 times a year. In fact the star is getting more well known due to her fantastic bikinis rather than her famous husband!

The star looked fantastic in a gorgeous beaded bikini in a lovely orange colour and was later spotted in a black and white ruffly bikini.

Coleen looks fantastic as always in her swimwear which she has recently been modelling for a clothes-wear brand. Coleen looked fantastic later on in the day covering up in a leopard print blazer and jeans.
